Both the contracting parties and the witnesses mentioned in the loan are Judeans, many descended from early military settlers ("Judeans by the descent").

. . . In the seventh year of the reign of Ptolemy son of Ptolemy and Kleopatra, Manifest (Epiphaneis) deities, when Philostratos son of Name was priest of Alexander, the Saviour gods, the Brother gods, the Benefactor gods, the Father-loving gods, (?) . . . the Manifest gods, and the Mother-loving gods, when Aspasia daughter of Chrysermos was prize-bearer (athlophoros) of Berenike the Benefactor, Isidora daughter of Apollonios was basket-bearer (kanēphoros) of Brother-loving Arsinoe, and Eirene daughter of Ptolemy was priestess of Father-loving Arsinoe, on the thirteenth of the month of Gorpiaios which is the thirteenth of Phamenoth, in Trikomia in the subdivision of Themistes in the Arsinoites district (nome).

Judas son of Josephos, Judean by the descent, has loaned to Agathokles son of Ptolemy, Judean of the detachment of Molossos stationed in the Herakleopolite district at a rank with pay, 2 talents (2 x 6,000 = 12,000 drachmas) and 500 hundred drachmas of copper money for twelve months from the date written above with interest at 2 drachmas per mina per month (i.e. 24% per year).  This loan is the amount which Agathokles still owed to Judas out of five talents (5 x 6,000 = 30,000 drachmas) which he had received from Judas as an advance for a shared retail business according to a written agreement, of which Ananias son of Jonathan, Judean by the descent, is keeper of the agreement.  Let Agathokles repay to Judas the stated loan and the interest in the month of Mecheir in the eighth year. But if he does not repay it as written, he shall pay an additional half that amount.  This agreement is valid.

Witnesses: Deinias son of Aineas, Thraseas son of Sosibios, Thebon son of Phanokles, Samaelos son of Joannes, all four Judeans by the descent; Theodoros son of Theodoros, who is also known as Samaelos and Nikanor son of Jason, both Judeans, owners of properties measuring at least 8o arouras (one arouros was about 2735 meters squared), commanders of the cavalry settled by Dositheos.

I, Agathokles, have received the 2 talents and the 500 hundred drachmas, the amount of the loan written above, and have deposited the valid agreement with Deinias as keeper of the agreement.
