Slab of marble (broken into two parts) with a relief of the Dioskouroi (Dioscuri) gods above. This association consisted of men and women, slaves and free persons, some from the same household. Such diverse membership was mandated by the Spartan state, which established compulsory dining associations that served as loci for reinforcing the state’s ideology.
