Year 2 of Gaius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, on the ninth of Peritios which is the ninth of Choiak, in Tebtynis of the division of Polemon in the Arsinoite district (nome). Horos son of Harmiysis son of Harpares, about 68 years old, with a scar on his right arm; Orsenouphis son of Horouanchious, about 58 years old, with a scar on his right calf; Harmaeis (5) son of Petesouchos, about 55 years old, with a scar on his left calf; Stotouetis son of Kollouthos, with a scar on the little finger of his left hand; Aunes son of Tephorsos, about 33 years old, with a scar on left side his forehead; Onnophris son of Kollouthos, about 35 years old, with a scar on his right knee – the six of them being the elders (presbyteroi) of the public farmers (dēmosioi georgoi) from the same village; and, Harmiysis son of Orseus, secretary (grammateus) of the farmers, about 55 years old, with a scar on his right forearm. (10) These seven have leased to Herakleides son of Didymos, a Persian of the descent, about 50 years old, with a scar on the middle of his nose, the half share of the so-called ‘Marsh of the God,’ namely the portions on the east around the same village of Tebtynis of the reed beds and arum and lotus root, and the so-called ‘Kanabis’ consisting of the dry pastures, for two years from the current second year of Gaius (15) Caesar Augustus Germanicus. The arum and whatever there is for fodder for pigs is included. The rent of all the land is sixty drachmas of minted silver coin for one year (blank space).
(second hand) We, Horos son of Harmiysis son of Harpares; Orsenouphis son of Horouanchious; Harmaeis son of Petesouchos; Stotouetis son of Kollouthos; (20) Aunes son of Tephorsos; Onnophris son of Kollouthos – the six elders of the public farmers; and, Harmiysis, secretary of the farmers, – the seven belonging to the same farmers – acknowledge that we have leased to Herakleides son of Didymos, the half share of the so-called ‘Marsh of the God’, (25) the eastern portions, around the village of Tebtynis of the reed bed and arum and lotus root, and the so-called ‘Kanabis’ consisting of the dry pastures, for two years from the current. . .
