bibliography

Block of white marble (86 x 83 x 45 cm). This fragmentary list of well over 94 contributors consists of those who made a donation in drachmas to some aim. It may be that that these are members of an association of immigrants, but this is not expressly stated. There are at least 8 women as contributors. In terms of origin, best represented in this list are Antiochians (19), Ephesians (16), and Alexandrians (8). While many come from Asia Minor and Aegean islands, there are also at least two from as far away as Italy (one from Rome and the other from Sicily). There are also several slaves (with named masters) and several persons identified as "public", namely public servants or slaves.

Is the Antioch mentioned the one in Pisidia or Syria?

Hello Kristina. We simply don’t know. It could be either, but it seems that far more of the immigrants here come from parts of Asia Minor, which may suggest Pisidia as a better possibility.
