(fragment 1)
Didymos to the most honored Tothetion, greetings.
After you left me at Pesta and as I was going to the alabaster quarry, I found the alabaster workers (alabastrōnitai), who, after I disputed with them, shifted their allotment (klēros) to other men from Antinoopolis. . . . (10) But other men came to me saying, “We are going out to the allotment to sit down until you bring word to us – today immediately.” When I heard these things, I expelled these men and went out . . . to work on the allotment. For this reason, I am writing to you so that you might know so that . . . to Antinoopolis . . . the governor of the district (nomarchēs).
(fragment 2)
(20) . . . the matter in case in some way . . . tomorrow to the allotment . . .
(2) SB VIII 9904 (153-154 CE)
. . . To Nikoppos (?), governor of the district of Antinoopolis, from Didymos son of Hermaios, Tothes son of Onnophris, Papentos son of Kilikas, and Psenosiris son of Sarapion, all four being alabaster workers decorating the sanctuary of Caeasar (Caesareion) constructed in Antinoopolis by Antonios Dios.
We think it is appropriate to be sent our salary for the month of Phamenoth at the rate of (10) 8 silver drachmas per month in keeping with the orders of Marianus, former procurator (epitropos) of our lord Caesar: total 32 silver drachmas, making 32 silver drachmas. If it seems good to you, send it to us. Year 17 of the emperor Caesar Titus Aelius Hadrianus Antoninus Augustus . . . Pius (?). Psenopsiris . . .
