Honors (frag.) by Businessmen for Claudius Bion (98-117 CE) Smyrna - Ionia

Smyrna (Ionia, Asia Minor — Pleiades map), 98-117 CE
ISmyrna 642 = PHI 255063 = AGRW ID# 10489

Fragment of a slab found in the market (agora; 24 x 37 x 13 cm). This fragmentary honorary inscription for Claudius Bion makes mention of the "Hellenes engaged in business" (pragmateuomenoi) which may or may not be a reference to the same (province-wide) association of "Romans and Hellenes in Asia" (οἱ ἐπὶ τῆς Ἀσίας Ῥωμαῖοι καὶ Ἕλληνες) attested at Laodikeia in the Lykos valley (see ILaodikLykos 82 = IGR IV 860, which forms the basis of the reconstruction of the text below). For a Ti. Claudius Bion, see ISmyrna 731 on this site.

Too fragmentary to translate.
