bibliography

Upper part of a base of marble with moulding at the top. Found southwest of Silandos (at modern Aşağı Güllüce), a town that was about 25 km northeast of Saittai. The synods in question are likely groups of athletes or performers or both.

According to the decrees, the Council, the People, and the wandering synods (synodoi) honored C. Julius Aelianus, high-priest, crown-bearer, and director of contests, and they honored him for his other demonstrations of honor, his leadership positions, and his goodwilll towards the homeland as a noble and good (?) man.
