Found built into a wall near the harbor.

This is a decree of the Council and the People in honor of Aurelius Varanus (Baranos), friend of the Augusti, honor-loving temple-keeper (neopoios) who, having set aside (?) eleven days, hosted at banquets the greatest Council of the Ephesians and all the sanhredrins (synedria; associations, or boards from the temple of Artemis [?]), as well as 1040 citizens, and the sanhedrin (synedrion) of temple-keepers and gold-bearers (chrysophoroi) also participated.   The honor was set up by Marcus Flavius Dometianos, friend of the Augusti, Asiarch and son of an Asiarch, legal representative of the greatest Council of the Ephesians.
