bibliography

Part of a base of white marble (69 x 52 x 47 cm). Found in 1879 close to the temple of Apollo (inv. Ε 151). These groups may be temporary formations for the purpose of providing honors, rather than ongoing associations with clear organizations. However, we do know that immigrants (esp. Romans), merchants, and shippers did regularly form more permanent associations on Delos and elsewhere, so this is also a possibility with some of these groups here.

The Athenian, Roman, and other Greek settlers (katoikountes) on Delos and the merchants (emporoi) and shippers (nauklēroi) set this up for Manius Aimilius Lepidus son of Manius, proquaestor, on account of his virtue, righteousness, and piety towards the gods.  This was dedicated to Apollo, Artemis, and Leto.  The supervisor Nikanor son of Nikanor of Leukonion subdivision planned the production and dedication.
