Circular pedestal of white marble found at Mallona near Lindos in 1862 (diameter 21 3/4 inches). Now in the British Museum, inv. 1864,1007.57. The name of this association indicates that it was founded by a man named Euphranor and was devoted to the deities Dionysos, Athena, and Zeus Atabyris (Atabyris was the highest mountain on Rhodes). Athenaios the Knidian was the most prominent member or leader at the time. The benefactor, whose name is lost, had contributed funds to the association to cover "matters" (perhaps lawsuits or damage to the meeting-places) and to renovate the places used by the group.
(missing lines, followed by at least two fragmentary lines) Name (?) . . . having been honored with a gold crown and with public proclamations for ever by the association (koinon) of Euphranorian devotees of Dionysos, Athena, and Zeus Atabyrios (Dionysiastai Athenaistai Dios Atabyriastai) who are with Athenaios the Knidian. When the association was being arrogantly abused in connection with its meeting-places (topoi) and was wasting away 550 drachmas on these matters (damages or lawsuits [?]), he promised to pay these funds for the association (koinon). Frequently demonstrating love of honor for the sake of benefiting the contributors (eranistai), he promised 505 drachmas for the restoration of the meeting-place (topos), another 100 drachmas for the rooms (oikētēria), and another 100 drachmas for the expense of decorating the meeting-place (topos). His wife, Arete, was also being honored by the association of Euphranorian devotees of Dionysos, Athena, and Zeus Atabyrios who are with . . . Athenaios the Knidian and (?) . . . being set up by the association of the . . . expenses . . . (remainder lost).
