bibliography

Two blocks of white marble joined together and found in excavations of the theater, now in the Louvre (MA 2806; 33 x 81 x 19.5 cm [upper]; 80 x 75.5 x 16.5 cm [lower]).

To good fortune!  M. Aurelius Thelymitres, victor in the Pythian games, victor in the Capitoline games, distinguished victor in all the great games, son of the distinguished M. Aurelius Thelymitres, voluntary benefactor of the homeland in many ways.  Because he has granted freedom from disturbance during the athletic contest, both communally and individually, (10) the worldwide and most sacred association (synedrion) of linen–weavers (linourgoi) honoured him in the section of the stage which he had built.  Farewell!
