Base of grey marble, likely a statue base (99 x 63 x 57 cm)

The dyers (bapheis) set this up to honor Tiberius Claudius Sokrates of the Quirina tribe, son of Sokrates, high-priest of Asia of the temple in Pergamon, director of contests for the city, head of the gymnasium, who supplied numerous and great things every time including the erection of buildings and generously arranging immunity for the homeland. This was done when Tiberius Claudius Anthus, Menodotos son of Menodotos, Menandros Olympikos son of Menogenes, and Lucius Kranion son of Apollonios were supervisors (epimelētai).
