bibliography

Slab of marble found south of the Church of Panagia Evangelistria. Poseidon may be the patron deity of this group. It is not clear whether the patra (phratra) here–a group term otherwise unattested at Tenos–is an official civic subdivision of the citizens or a less formal association.

It was resolved by the Andrakleidians (Andrakleidai): Peisagoras proposed: Since Theomnestos son of Euktimenes is a good man with respect to the brotherhood (patra = phratra), managing communal interests in a good and just manner with the result that an abundance of income was produced for the brotherhood and continuing to take care of other communal interests of the brotherhood and of the sacrifices, it was resolved to crown him with a gold crown worth 100 drachmai and to give him double-portions of the communal sacrifices on account of his virtue, righteousness, and care with respect to the brotherhood and the sacred rites.  It was also resolved to announce the crown during the contests of the Poseidon celebrations in the theater.  This decree is to be inscribed on a stone slab (stele) and set up in the temple of . . .    The expense is to be provided . . . the leaders (archontes) . . . of the brotherhood.
