Coffin (sarcophagus) with two inscriptions (indicating reuse, despite the warning against this in the earlier inscription). The text of the later Christian inscription (V-VI CE) – positioned over the porters' inscription – is not presented here but can be seen in Mordtmann's facsimile below.
Memorial . . . (two and a half lines missing) . . . Now if anyone dares to put another body in it (?) . . . or to scratch out the inscription or to alter it. . ., that person will pay 2500 denarii to the sacred sanhedrin (synedrion) of . . . porters (sakkophoroi) who are from (?) . . . the measuring house and the same amount . . . to the city (polis) (?) . . . and that person will be be subject to the law regarding tomb-violation (?).
