bibliography

Slab of blue limestone (pillar-shaped) with large moulding above and a base below. Found in the necropolis of Korakonero, near the East coast of Ialysos. This is an example both of communal fund-raising and communal burial, as the monument itself was found in a burial area. The group consisted of 36 members, including several Rhodians and a mixture of immigrants. The "eranos" that is mentioned is likely the "collection" itself in this case, not a self-designation for the group. Nonetheless, the term "eranists" is used for members of the group. The collection amounted to about 1000 drachmas. Although there were several places known as Chersonesos (from the Greek for "peninsula"), in this case it likely refers to the Rhodian peninsula (Chersonesos), also known as the Rhodian Peraia.

(Side A)
Ktesiphon from Chersonesos, benefactor of the association (koinon), who has also been crowned with a gold crown, dedicated this on behalf of the contributors (eranistai) devoted to the Samothracian gods, Aristoboulos, Hermes, and the Panathenaian festival (Samothraikiastai Aristobouliastai Hermaistai Panathenaistai) who are together with Ktesiphon.

(Side B) When Nikasagoras was priest, the following contributors, indicating that they would enhance the fund (eranos), promised to give voluntarily money for the price of the place, and they did pay: (column 1)
