This statue is dedicated to a family member whose name is lost. The inscription includes a list of previous honors including those by various associations. The association named variations on Eretheibiazontes is also attested in IRhodErethJ 1-2. This group (or these groups) were devoted to Apollo Erethimios / Erythibios (“Averter of Mildew”; namely, protector of crops; cf. Strabo, Geogr. 13.1.64). They do not seem to be boards of priests. The Pasiphonteian association devoted to the god Asklepios was evidently founded by a man named Pasiphontos, a common name on Rhodes.
. . . This was set up by Theuphanes III of Plarios and Auxesis of Plarios, daughter of Athanodoros, on behalf of their son; by Euphranax of Plarios, Mentor of Plarios and Theuphanes IV of Plarios on behalf of their brother; by Iason son of Euphranax on behalf of the deity; and, by Theuphanes V of Plarios on behalf of the deity. He has been crowned by the Kamirians . . . and by the association of harmonious Erethimios-devotees (Eretheibiazontes) and by the Pasiphonteian association of Asklepios-devotees (Asklepiastai) on account of his goodwill towards the association. This is dedicated to the gods. Anthos from Knidos, resident alien, made this.
